Overview
Orbit helps small businesses understand their cash flow at a glance. The product had powerful data behind it, but the interface made people feel like they needed an accountant just to read it.
The challenge
Dozens of charts competed for attention, reports took seconds to load and key actions were hidden three menus deep. People opened the app, felt overwhelmed and left.
The approach
I rebuilt the dashboard around one question: what changed since last time? A typed API layer pre-aggregates the numbers, while the interface leads with plain-language insights and lets people drill down only when they want to. Charts became lightweight, accessible components with keyboard navigation and screen reader summaries.
The outcome
A faster, friendlier product that people actually come back to, with dashboards that render instantly and reports anyone on the team can understand.
